London Irish Film Club, May 12th at 7.30pm 'Adam & Paul'![]() LONDON IRISH FILM CLUB / MAY 09 / 'THE WEDNESDAYS' & 'ADAM & PAUL' Tuesday May 12th at 7.30pm The London Irish Centre, 50-52 Camden Square, NW1 9XB Entry: £5 / £4 concessions The Wednesdays When you're in the autumn of your days, and you've nothing left to lose, you might be tempted to try anything just to put a smile on your face again. Mr and Mrs O'Leary have been prisoners of old age for too long, so when they discover a way to feel young again, and to re-discover the love they had almost forgotten about, they grab it with both hands - every Wednesday. Unfortunately, soon the law comes knocking at their door... Director : Conor Ferguson (2007) 13 minutes Adam & Paul 'Adam & Paul' is a frank and humorous look at the comically darker side of Dublin that lurks behind the crime rate and the drug statistics. Friends since they were small boys, Adam and Paul have withered into two, hapless, desperate junkies, tied together by habit and necessity. A stylised, downbeat physical comedy, the film follows the boys over the course of a single day, which, like every other, is entirely devoted to the business of scrounging and robbing money for drugs. The difference today is that Adam and Paul – already near rock bottom – have finally run out of luck, credit and friends. Co-produced with Speers Films for BSÉ/IFB and made on a budget of €400,000, Adam and Paul won critical acclaim in 2004. Official selection in the Panorama section at the 2005 Berlin Film Festival, Best First Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh, Stella Artois Grand Prix for Best Film in the International category.
