‘We are the earth’
WATCH SPIRIT
Ronan Gallagher's acclaimed film 'SPIRIT' can now be viewed online for free by clicking on the Watch Spirit link above.
‘Spirit’ is a short film directed, produced and filmed by independent filmmaker Ronan Gallagher. Beautifully shot, the film captures the stunning and sometimes breathtaking landscapes of the north-west of Ireland and explores the nature of mans relationship with the land around him, asking if our relationship with the earth is a spiritual one.
‘Spirit’ was filmed mainly in county Leitrim, and parts of Fermanagh and Sligo. All contributions are from people local to the area whose understanding of the land around them and what it does for them is matched only by their appreciation of it. As one commentator said of the film,
’ It captures in a most magical way, the things that most of us pass every day without seeing.’
With extraordinary music from the world renowned ‘Dead Can Dance’ and wonderful images from Gallagher’s camerawork, ‘Spirit’ is an uplifting and philosophical film that leaves the viewer in no doubt as to the beauty, enchantment and spirit of the lands and people of the North West of Ireland.
Filmed, edited and produced over 10 days on a budget of 1000 euro, ‘Spirit’ is another shining example of what can be produced with limited resources and unlimited imagination.
